Bar Beach, Newcastle AUS. JUL 2012
My absolute favourite time of the day is sunset. I found an old diary the other night with an entry from 2007 when I was travelling around the world on my own. It read “today the sunset is amazing, without doubt my most favourite time no matter where in the world I am, spectacular in every way. I could do this for the rest of my life, a sunset in every country. It’s like the whole world stops to watch the lights of the world turn off for the night. The world’s colours are present, awash in the magnificent sky”. I believe I was sitting on the beach in Waikiki, it was January, I had been travelling for almost 12 months and I was missing my family and friends incredibly. For that particular moment though I felt at home, I felt happy and the smile on my face couldn’t be wiped.
As I sat at Bar Beach in Newcastle a few weeks ago and watched the beautiful sun go to sleep I had this feeling again. Life has changed so much for me since that afternoon in Waikiki and as much as I wish I could sometimes be back traipsing around the world I am so incredibly happy with where I am. I am back with my beautiful family who I love so dearly, I have the most caring, supportive man in my life, my beautiful friends (from Australia) are just a car drive away, I am studying what I love and my career or should I say my passion is taking off like I never thought possible. I am happy in love, life and work (if you can call doing what you love work) and things are only going to get better.
The reason I was at Bar Beach will be revealed sometime next week as I am not ready to spill the beans just yet. But as I said before things are changing and happiness and excitement fill the air.
Hope you all have a happy week ♥
